IDPC releases its response to the INCB report for 2013
Today, IDPC released its response to the Annual Report of the International Narcotics Control Board for 2013.
In our response, we comment upon the former INCB President's Foreword to the report, as well as the report's positions on the economics of drug policy (the thematic chapter of the Annual Report), harm reduction, human rights and access to essential medicines. IDPC also analyses the INCB's stance and politics around the recent movements towards the creation of regulated cannabis markets in Uruguay and the US states of Washington and Colorado.
Overall, there has been much progress in this report compared to previous annual reports of the Board. However, there remain many flaws and weaknesses in analysis and the positions taken in certain areas continue to be marked by ideology, rather than science and evidence.
The IDPC report is available here.
